Kimito ( Finnish: Kemiö ) is a former community in southwest Finland. It is located on the island of Kimitoön in the eastern part of the archipelago off the coast of the Varsinais-Suomi landscape . At the beginning of 2009, Kimito merged with the two other municipalities on the island, Dragsfjärd and Västanfjärd, to form the new municipality of Kimitoön (Kemiönsaari).

The municipality of Kimito occupied the northern part of Kimitoön and had an area of ​​320.96 km². In the former area of ​​the municipality there is a mine where feldspar and quartz are extracted. The municipality of Kimito last had 3,235 inhabitants, 64% of them Finland-Sweden . Officially, the community was bilingual with Swedish as the majority and Finnish as the minority language.

In the 12th century, agricultural Swedish immigrants settled on the island of Kimitoön. The sock parish of Kimito was probably built at the beginning of the 13th century, the first written mention of it comes from the year 1329. The church of Kimito dates from the period between 1460 and 1470.

The Finnish publisher Amos Valentin Anderson (1878–1961) and the Swedish athlete Edvin Wide (1896–1996) were born in Kimito .
