Västergötlands Altertumsverein (Swedish. Västergötlands fornminnesförening ) is a Swedish association for the preservation of the cultural monuments and the cultural landscape of Västergötland . The association has around 1200 members and is now a support association for the Västergötlands Provincial Museum in Skara , the Västra Götalands Regional Museum in Vänersborg and the Lödöse Museum .

history

The association was founded in 1863. One of the most important tasks at the beginning was to collect objects from Västergötland of cultural and historical interest . The collections grew so rapidly over time that the association founded the Västergötlands Museum in 1919 . In 1869 the first issue of the club magazine was published.

Lödöse Museum

The Västergötland Antiquities Association is now a support association for the Västergötlands Provincial Museum in Skara, the Västra Götalands Regional Museum in Vänersborg and the Lödöse Museum.
