Västertorp is an above-ground station on the Stockholm Metro . It is located in the Västertorp district of the same name . The station is served by the Röda linjen of the Stockholm metro system . It is one of the less frequented stations on the underground network. On a normal working day, 3,000 commuters get on and off here.
The station was put into operation on April 5, 1964, when the first section of the Röda linjen between T-Centralen and Fruängen was inaugurated. The platforms are above ground in an elevated position. The station is located between the Hägerstensåsen and Fruängen stations . It is about eight kilometers to Stockholm Central Station .
