Västra skogen is an underground station on the Stockholm Metro . It is located in the Huvudsta district of the Solna municipality . The station is served by the Blå linjen of the Stockholm metro system . It is one of the less frequented stations on the underground network. 7,000 commuters get on here on a normal working day.
The station went into operation on August 31, 1975 when the first section of the Blå linjen between T-Centralen - Hjulsta was opened. The station was built using the cut-and-cover method, the platforms are approx. 40 meters underground. The station is between the Stadshagen and Huvudsta (T10) and Solna centrum (T11) stations. It is around four kilometers to Stockholm Central Station .
The station houses the longest escalator in Sweden. It is 66 meters long and overcomes a height difference of 33 meters. The treadmill speed is 0.75 meters per second, so a ride takes about one and a half minutes.
