Blå linjen ( German Blue Line ), internally Tub 3 , is the collective term for two subway lines of the Stockholm tunnelbana . Blå linjen consists of lines T10 and T11. Although the line numbers formally exist, they are rarely used in the population. Since the two lines to Västra Skogen run on the same route, they are grouped under the umbrella term Blue Line . They have a total of 20 stations, apart from the Kista station , the entire route is underground and about 20 to 30 meters underground. The line is 25.5 kilometers long. The first section of the line between Hjulsta and Kungsträdgården stations was opened on August 31, 1975. Line T10 starts at Hjulsta station in the north-west of Stockholm and runs alone in a south-easterly direction to Västra skogen , from where it runs together with line T11 to the current terminus at Kungsträdgården . Line T11 runs from Akalla station in the north in a southerly direction to Västra skogen station . In 2005, the two lines were used by around 151,000 travelers on working days.
history
The blue line is the newest of the three main lines on the Stockholm Metro. Their structure and development differ in some respects from the other two lines. So the line was not built outward piece by piece. There was a connection between Hallonbergen and Rinkeby from 1975 to 1985 . During this time, the line split into the branches to Akalla and Hjulsta, although the line to Akalla was not put into operation until 1977. The current line was only created with the new construction of the line via Sundbyberg . The line between Hallonbergen and Rinkeby was then taken out of service. Furthermore, the blue line is the only one that runs almost exclusively underground. It is the only one that has a station that has never been put into operation. The Kymlinge station between Hallonbergen and Kista was originally intended to supply a district of the same name. Since this was never built, there was no need for this station. It still exists today in the shell and is driven through slowly but without stopping.
The line was expanded in the following steps:
- 1975: T-Centralen - Hjulsta (via the Hallonbergen - Rinkeby connection)
- 1977: Hallonbergen - Akalla
- 1977: T-Centralen - Kungsträdgården
- 1985: Västra Skogen - Rinkeby (via Sundbybergs Centrum with suspension of traffic via the Hallonbergen - Rinkeby connection)
future
In the west, the T11 blue line is being extended from Akalla to Barkarby, where you can change to Pendeltåg . Construction is scheduled to start in 2018, with completion around 2024.
It has also been decided to extend Kungsträdgården via Sofia to Sockenplan or Nacka Centrum; it should be completed by around 2025. As Sofia station will be about 100 m below the surface, it will be the only station on the Stockholm Metro that will only be accessible by elevators and without escalators. After Sofia, the blue line branches off in the direction of Gullmarsplan and on to Sockenplan, where it takes over the previous green line to Hagsätra. This results in further transfer options, for example to the Green Line and Tvärbanan on Gullmarsplan . The other branch runs from Sofia to Nacka. There are also new transfer options on this branch: At Hammarby Canal / Luma and Sickla to Tvärbanan, and in Sickla and Järla to Saltsjöbanan (L25).
