Kista is an above-ground station on the Stockholm Metro . It is located in the center of the Kista district of the same name . The station is served by the Blå linjen of the Stockholm metro system . It is one of the busiest stations on the underground network. On a normal working day, 16,000 commuters get on here.

The station went into operation on June 5, 1977 when the section of the Blå linjen between Hallonbergen and Akalla was opened. The platforms are above ground in an elevated position. The station is the only one on the Blå linjen that is above ground. Right next to the station is the Kista Galleria , one of Sweden's most modern shopping centers. The station is located between the Hallonbergen and Husby stations . It is about 11.5 km to Stockholm Central Station . Between the station and the next station Hallonbergen is the "ghost station" Kymlinge , where the trains only pass.
