Nockebybanan is a tram line in Stockholm . The whole route was opened in 1929. The track width is 1435 mm. It developed from tram line 12 and ends today as a feeder to the Tunnelbana (subway) at the Alvik station , where the Tvärnana also stops.

The Nockebybana has had no connection to the city center since 1952. In 1967 it was switched to right-hand traffic except for a few hundred meters near Alvik (→ Dagen H ). In order not to have to rebuild the Alvik station with its short transfer routes, the change of side has since been made by means of an intersection at the Alléparken stop. The existing turning loop was removed in the years that followed. Since June 14, 2009, the railway has been operated entirely with low-floor vehicles. The route is double-tracked throughout.

vehicles

Today, three type A 32 low-floor multiple units are used on the line. These 30.4 meter long vehicles have 78 seats; they can carry a maximum of 211 people. The maximum speed is 80 km / h.

Up to June 14th, 2009, bogie wagons of the A 24 series from ASEA were still in use, which were extensively modernized in the 1980s. These vehicles were built in the 1940s for the Alvik – Ängby route, which has been part of the metro network since 1952. They have doors on both sides, which made it possible to continue operating the Nockebybana in 1967 when traffic was switched from left to right.

operator

On November 22, 2011, the board of management company responsible for Stockholm had to award the traffic on the Nockebybana from August 2012 to Arriva Sverige AB. In order to create incentives for the operator, a remuneration model was chosen that is based on the number of passengers and not on the number of cars or space kilometers. The contract runs until 2020 and can be extended until 2024.
