Gröna linjen ( German Green Line ), internally Tub 1 , is the collective term for the three underground lines T17, T18 and T19 of the Stockholm Tunnelbana with a total of 49 stations, eleven of which are underground. They are the oldest lines on the Stockholm Metro. The entire route is 41.5 kilometers.
Since the three lines share a common trunk line, they are summarized under the umbrella term Green Line , which is divided into several branches at its southern end. Therefore, the line numbers are rarely used in the population. This concept is also used on the red and blue lines of the Stockholm Metro.
From the northwest end point Hässelby strand to Gullmarsplan , the lines use a common route. The trains on line T17 serve them in the north-west to Åkeshov and those of line T18 to Alvik . South of the city center, line T19 separates from the other two at Gullmarsplan station without crossing and continues west to its final stop, Hagsätra . The other two lines also separate without crossing at the next Skärmarbrink station . The main workshop Hammarby, which is located in the immediate vicinity, is also connected to Skärmbrink station. From there the T18 runs south to Farsta strand , the T17 runs east to Skarpnäck . In 2006, the three lines were used by around 482,000 travelers on working days.
The stations with the smallest distances to each other are on the green line. It is only 449 meters between Slussen and Medborgarplatsen . Between Hötorget and T-centralen it is 530 meters, between Odenplan and S: t Erik plan 664 meters.
history
The first section of the line between the Slussen and Hökarängen stations was opened on October 1, 1950. In 1957 the central section Hötorget – Slussen was put into operation, which linked the two previously independent parts in the south and north of the green line. By 1960, today's network was essentially complete. In 1971 and 1994, smaller extensions were added. This makes the green line the first line to be started and put into operation, as well as the one that was last expanded so far. Skarpnäck station is the 100th and newest station on the Stockholm metro network.
The order of commissioning:
- 1950: Slussen - Hökarängen

Between March 25th and August 17th, 2008, the section served by the T18 line was renewed with the oldest technology. There were no trains between Skärmbrink and Farsta Strand terminus, the so-called Farstagrenen, during this time. The whole section was fundamentally rebuilt, which in addition to renewals to the track systems included modifications to the access points. During this period the traffic was maintained by buses.
From March 21st to September 25th, 2011, the route from Gullmarsplan to Hagsätra used by the T19 line was rebuilt. The replacement traffic ran again with buses.
