Vällingby is an above-ground station on the Stockholm Metro below the satellite town of Vällingby Centrum . It is located in the Vällingby district . The station is served by the Gröna linjen of the Stockholm subway system . It is one of the busiest stations on the underground network. On a normal working day, 10,000 commuters get on here.
The station went into operation on October 26, 1952 when the Hötorget - Vällingby subway section was inaugurated and was the terminus of the T19 line until November 1, 1956. This was extended to Hässelby gård station in 1956 . The station has four tracks on two platforms, at each platform the trains stop in only one direction. The station is not directly an above-ground station as it is partly located in the tunnel. The tunnel passes under the Vällingby-Centrum and comes back to light after approx. 200 m. The station is located between the Råcksta and Johannelund stations . It is about eleven kilometers to Stockholm Central Station .
