Alvik is an above-ground station on the Stockholm Metro and two light rail lines. It is located in the Västerort district , right next to the Drottningholmsvägen expressway . The station is served by the Gröna linjen of the Stockholm subway system as well as by the tram- like Nockebybanan and Tvärbanan . It is the end of line T18 of the Gröna linjen. That makes the station, together with the transfer connections, one of the busiest on the underground network. On a normal working day, an average of 38,100 passengers get on and off, of which 20,100 are on the subway, 16,000 on the two light rail vehicles and 2000 on bus routes. There is a platform-level crossing between the U-Bahn and Nockebybanan trains; the Tvärbanan platforms are approximately 90 ° below the two other lines at the western exit.
The station started operating on October 26, 1952 when the Hötorget - Vällingby metro section was inaugurated. The two platforms of the U- and Nockebybahn, each with two tracks, are located above ground, as are the Tvärnana tracks below. However, they lead in both directions into a tunnel excavated using mining techniques. The station is between the stations Kristineberg and Stora mossen of the underground as well as Alviks Strand and Johannesfred der Tvrebsana. It is around 4.5 kilometers to Stockholm Central Station . The Bromma depot is located on the west side of the station ; it is connected to the platform tracks of the U-Bahn and Nockebybahn via a shared operating line, which is equipped with catenary and busbars, and to those of the Tvrebsana via a connecting tunnel. For reasons of space, it was not possible to set up a sweeping system for the U-Bahn trains west of the platforms. The sweeping system required to change the direction of trains on line (T) 18 is therefore also located on the premises of the Bromma depot.
