Globen is an above-ground station on the Stockholm Metro . It is located in the Johanneshov district . The station is served by the Gröna linjen of the Stockholm subway system as well as by the light rail-like Tvärbanan , which stops at the northern entrance of the station. The station is one of the less frequented stations on the underground network. On a normal working day, 6,400 commuters get on the subway here and 2,500 on the Tvärnana.
The station was opened on September 9, 1951 under the name Slakthuset , when the section of the Gröna linjen Gullmarsplan – Stureby went into operation. On November 19, 1958, the name was changed to Isstadion . The station only got its current name in 1989 when the Globen entertainment district opened. The station is between the Enskede gård and Gullmarsplan metro stations and between the Linde and Mårtensdal stations in Tvärnana. It is around 4.5 km to Stockholm Central Station .

future
It has been decided to extend the blue line from Kungsträdgården to Södermalm and then in two branches to Nacka and Gullmarsplan. The second branch should then take over the route to Hagsätra from the Sockenplan stop. The old route between Gullmarsplan and Sockenplan is to be replaced by a new one, and the Globen and Enskede gård stations are to be replaced by a new "Slakthusområdet" station.
