Fridhemsplan is an underground station on the Stockholm Metro . It is located in the Kungsholmen district . The Gröna linjen and Blå linjen of the Stockholm subway system meet at the station . This fact and the central location in the city center make the station one of the busiest in the Swedish capital . On a normal working day, 54,300 commuters get on and off here. In addition, there are 21,700 passengers on the bus routes.
The station consists of two interconnected underground stations, the upper one for the Gröna linjen and the lower one for the Blå linjen . There is also an operating track on Fridhemsplan that connects the two underground lines.
The first station where the trains of the Gröna linjen stop was put into operation on October 26, 1952, when the Hötorget - Vällingby subway section was inaugurated. The platforms are about 18 meters underground. The station is located between the Thorildsplan and St. Eriksplan stations . Since August 31, 1975, the Blå linjen trains have also stopped at Fridhemsplan station, the platforms of which are about 28 to 31 meters below ground between the Rådhuset and Stadshagen stations . It is about 2.1 km to the terminus Kungsträdgården .
Expansion plans
It has been decided to run a new metro line from Älvsjö to Fridhemsplan. It should be ready around 2035. The station has to be renovated beforehand. A three-month lockdown is planned for 2019.
