The Vågan kirke (German: Vågan Church ) is a religious building in Kabelvåg on to Norway belonging Lofoten .

The church was built in 1898 in neo-Gothic style instead of a previous building from 1798. Due to its size with space for 1200 worshipers, it is also called Lofotkatedral . It is the largest wooden church north of Trondheim . The architect was Carl Julius Bergstrøm . The building was built by the timber construction company Jacob Digre from Trondheim. The components were prefabricated there and assembled in Kabelvåg.

The altar of the church was created by the pastor and painter Frederik Nicolai Jensen between 1869 and 1870. The altar comes from the old church and shows Getsemanemotifs . The middle and largest picture shows Jesus and an angel.

The church has a Friedrich II Bible from 1589. There are also two baptismal fonts; the new baptismal font is used for baptisms, the basin from the old church is a sacrificial bowl.

A picture of Just Giblsen, the last Catholic priest, dates from 1534. With the Reformation of 1536 he converted to the Evangelical Lutheran faith. The most famous pastor from Vågan was the “Greenland Apostle” Hans Poulsen Egede .
