Vélodrome de Toulon Provence Méditerranée
The Vélodrome de Toulon Provence Méditerranée , also known as Vélodrome Hyères for short , is a semi-open cycle track in Hyères in the south of France .
The Vélodrome Hyères is a semi-open cycle racing track, the surface of the 250 meter long track is made of hardwood from Cameroon . It opened in 1989 and was initially open; When the runway was renovated in 2006, the grandstands were covered. The track is seven meters wide and has a curve elevation of 48 degrees. A special feature of the track is that there is a smaller concrete cycling track inside.
In 1990 the first track cycling world cup of the World Cycling Association Union Cycliste Internationale took place there; a total of six World Cup races were held there until 2013. French rail championships were also held there six times up to 2013 , as well as several international high-class events.
In Hyères there is a national training center of the French cycling association Fédération Française de Cyclisme (FFC), where the multiple sprint world champion Daniel Morelon trained until 2007 and then, until 2012, the former world class sprinter Benoît Vétu trained the national sprint team.
