Véronique Hulmann

Véronique Hulmann Marti (* 1966 in the canton of Jura ) is a Swiss diplomat . She has been Switzerland's ambassador to Kyrgyzstan since 2017 .

Life and education

Véronique Hulmann Marti holds a degree in political science from the University of Neuchâtel and a master's degree from the Institut des Hautes Etudes Internationales et du Développement in Geneva.

Hulmann is married to André Marti. The two met in 1991 while studying in Mozambique and have three children.

Professional career

Véronique Hulmann worked for international organizations ( ICRC and United Nations ) in the war and post-conflict area for five years . In 1998 she joined the SDC Directorate for Development and Cooperation , where she was responsible for the "Human Rights and Rule of Law" program. From 2001 to 2004 she was responsible for the Bangladesh dossier and then moved to India as deputy head of the SDC office .

Hulmann returned to the SDC headquarters in Bern in 2008 and took over the deputy department head and from 2009 the department head for the region of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) . She then moved to Jerusalem , where she worked from 2013 to 2017 as SDC office manager for Gaza and the West Bank and was also responsible for the UNRWA regional dossier .

She has been Switzerland's ambassador to Kyrgyzstan since 2017.
