Véronique Vigneron

Véronique Vigneron is a former French judoka . She was third in the world championship in 1984 and won a silver medal and two bronze medals at European championships.

Athletic career

Véronique Vigneron fought until 1982 in the heavyweight division or in the open class. In 1981 she won her first French championship. At the European Championships in 1981 she received a bronze medal behind the Italian Margherita De Cal and the German Christiane Kieburg . The following year she also won bronze at the European Championships in Oslo , this time behind the Dutch Marjolein van Unen and Christiane Kieburg.

1983 Vigneron moved to the light heavyweight division. That year she won the French championships in both the open class and the light heavyweight division. At the European Championships in Genoa , she started in both classes. In the light heavyweight division she won the semi-finals against the Dutchwoman Marieke Blauw and lost in the final against the Belgian Ingrid Berghmans . In the open class, she lost in the quarterfinals to the Italian Maria Teresa Motta . Through the round of hope she reached the battle for bronze, which she lost to the Austrian Karin Posch . At the end of 1983 Vigneron reached the final of the Fukuoka Cup and then lost to Ingrid Berghmans.

Berghmans and Vigneron also met at the 1984 World Championships in Vienna, and the Belgian won the quarter-finals. In the Hope Round, Vigneron first defeated the British Theresa Hayden and then won the battle for bronze against Belinda Binkley from the United States. Vigneron won her last French championship title in 1985 in the open class.
