Víctor Núñez Rodríguez (born April 15, 1980 in Santo Domingo , Dominican Republic ), nicknamed El Mambo , is a Costa Rican soccer player .

Víctor Núñez grew up in the Dominican Republic, but came to Costa Rica when he was twelve when his mother married a local. There he played his way up in the football clubs until he had his first professional game for Goicoechea in 1998. As an outstanding striker, he has since played in the first Costa Rican league and has been under contract with the four major clubs, including Deportivo Saprissa and LD Alajuelense . Several times he was the league's top scorer. Most recently he played for CS Herediano .

Several times he got the offer to play for the national team of the Dominican Republic, but decided in 2003 for the Costa Rican citizenship. Then he came to his first two appearances for the national soccer team of Costa Rica in 2005 and is even in Costa Rica's World Cup squad for the 2006 World Cup in Germany. He will be the first native Dominican to participate in a World Cup.

He has been the record scorer in the Primera División de Costa Rica since November 17, 2013 , four days earlier he had scored 196 goals from Errol Daniels.
