Julius Konegen
Julius Konegen (born July 1, 1857 in Königsberg , East Prussia, † May 9, 1916 in Braunschweig ) was a German engineer and entrepreneur .
life and work
Konegen studied mechanical engineering from 1878 to 1881 at the trade academy and the Technical University of Berlin that emerged from it . He worked in the Braunschweig machine factory and mill construction company G. Luther as a designer , works manager, foreign representative and later became a limited partner . He left this company in 1894 and founded the mill construction company Amme, Giesecke & Konegen (AGK) in Braunschweig together with his former work colleagues Ernst Amme and Carl Giesecke the following year . Konegen was primarily involved in the company's rapidly growing success as the developer of a flour sifting and sorting system. In 1911 he was appointed to the magistrate by the city of Braunschweig as an unpaid (honorary) councilor . He was a member of the Braunschweig Freemason Lodge Carl zum Crowned Pillar . During the First World War , the AGK largely switched its production to armaments. Konegen died in 1916.
Awards
The Technical University of Braunschweig awarded Konegen an honorary doctorate in 1909 . The Julius-Konegen-Strasse in Braunschweig is named after him.
