Víctor Piñero

Víctor Piñero Borges (born May 10, 1923 in Caracas , † January 5, 1975 in Caracas ) was a Venezuelan singer.

Piñero made his first professional appearances with the orchestra of trumpeter Leonardo Pedroza in the program Cada minuto una estrella on Radio Libertador . In 1947 he made his first recordings with the Orquesta Hermanos Belisario , to which he was a solo singer until its dissolution in 1951. He was a member of the subsequent orchestra of Pedro J. Belisario until 1957.

In 1956 he recorded music with the orchestra of the trumpeter Francisco Galán in a new style known as Merecumbé and became Rey del Merecumbé . He and Germán Vergara took part as solo singers in the Los Melódicos orchestra's debut in July 1958 . Two months later he recorded the LP Estos son Los Melodicos with the orchestra . At the end of the year he recorded four numbers with La Sonora Matancera in Cuba . The very successful LP Carnaval con Billo’s was created with Billo Frometas Caracas Boys .

Further recordings were made with Victor Saumes Los Peniques , Alberto Muñoz ' La Tremenda and Renato Capriles ' Los Melódicos , among others . With his own orchestra, Victor Piñero y sus Caribes , Piñero made his debut at the Carnival in 1962. With this orchestra he recorded five LPs until its dissolution in 1965. After that he worked mainly with the Los Melódicos Orchestra .
