Víctor Ruiz del Valle (born June 7, 1969 in Santiago Tepeyahualco or Zempoala , Hidalgo ) is a retired Mexican football player who played in midfield almost throughout his career .

Life

society

Víctor Ruiz began his career as a professional footballer with the capital club Cruz Azul , for whom he made his debut in the Mexican Primera División on August 22, 1992 in a 2-1 home win against reigning champions León . Ruiz scored his first goal in the Primera División in the second half of the same season (1992/93), which, by the way, he still played as a defender , on March 27, 1993 in a 5-1 win against Tecos de la UAG .

His greatest success with Cruz Azul was the runner-up in the 1994/95 season. A year later he moved to Deportivo Toluca FC , with whom he celebrated his greatest successes at club level. Under the later national coach Enrique Meza , the Diablos Rojos won the championship title three times (Verano 1998, Verano 1999 and Verano 2000) and reached the finals again in Torneo Invierno 2000, but they were lost to CA Monarcas Morelia .

In the winter of 2001/02 Ruiz moved to Club Necaxa , with whom he again reached the finals in Torneo Verano 2002 against the then city rivals and favorites America . The fact that the Necaxistas almost achieved the sensation was primarily due to Ruiz, who scored the opening goal to make it 1-0 with a free kick in the first leg and had prepared the goal for the 2-0 final score by Luis Roberto Alves . But America won the second leg 3-0 and lived up to its role as favorites.

Ruiz ended his active career in the Clausura 2006. After he was used in the entire round only in two games for a total of 16 minutes, he was allowed to play the last game of the season, in which it was nothing for Necaxa, again in full . It was lost on April 29, 2006 against Tecos de la UAG with 0: 1.

National team

Although Ruiz made his debut in the dress of the Mexican national team on June 29, 1993 in a friendly match against Costa Rica, which was won 2-0, and made four more international appearances in 1995, he only played his other 21 internationals in the period between the 5 July 2000 (2: 1 against Venezuela) and June 20, 2001 (1: 3 against Honduras), when he was a regular under his former club coach at Toluca, Enrique Meza. When he was dismissed due to negative results in World Cup qualification for 2002 , Ruiz's national team career was over. In the disappointing appearance of the Mexicans at the Confederations Cup in 2001 , Ruiz scored the only goal for “El Tri” at this tournament in the game against co-hosts South Korea (1: 2).
