Völkisch-social block
The Völkisch-Sozialer Block or Völkischer Block (also Völkischsozialer Block, VSB) was the name given to various electoral alliances of the extreme right in German states in 1924, with the significant participation of National Socialist politicians, which emerged after the NSDAP was banned as a result of the Hitler putsch . They are not to be confused with the Völkisch Social Block , which stood as a candidate for the National Socialist electoral list in the regional elections in Carinthia in 1927 .
The respective VSB cannot, however, be seen as pure substitute organizations for the banned NSDAP, as many members also came from other, pre-existing ethnic organizations and their political positions were not always identical to those of the National Socialists. The influential Bavarian offshoot, one of whose co-founders was Rudolf Buttmann , appeared under the name “Völkischer Block in Bayern” (VBl).
In the course of 1924 the various national organizations of the Völkisch-Sozial bloc and the Deutschvölkische Freedom Party merged in the short-lived National Socialist Freedom Party and National Socialist Freedom Movement .
