Věroslav Neumann

Věroslav Neumann (born May 27, 1931 in Cítoliby , † November 21, 2006 in Prague ) was a Czech composer and music teacher.

Neumann studied at the Prague Music Academy with Jaroslav Řídký and then lived in Prague as a composer and music teacher. From 1990 to 1998 he was director of the Prague Conservatory of Music. As a composer, he mainly performed with vocal works, especially songs, choral works and song cycles, but he also composed chamber music and works for solo instruments. He received prizes at the World Festival of Youth and Students in Warsaw in 1955 and Helsinki in 1962, and in 1987 he received the Panton Publishing House Award for his Songs of Defiance and Strength and the Prize of the Association of Czech Composers and Concert Musicians for Atlantis .
