V-Ray  is a commercial  renderer  for  3D graphics software . It is developed by Chaos Group, a company founded in 1997 and headquartered in  SofiaBulgaria . V-Ray is used in the fields of  visual effectsadvertisingdesign  and  architecture  . The renderer is offered as a  plug-in  for various  3D graphics packages  or as a  stand-alone  command line program. There is also a  software development kit  for connecting additional software.

V-Ray is widely used in the creation of  visual effects  for feature films and series productions, including  Doctor StrangeThe First Avenger: Civil War, and  Game of Thrones .

As part of the  2017 Oscars  , Vladimir Koylazov, a co-founder of Chaos Group, was awarded the  Science and Development Oscar  for the concept, design and implementation of V-Ray.
