The Norwegian steam locomotive series V.B. 1-4 was 1902 and 1906 in three copies from the Sächsische Maschinenfabrik by Richard Hartmann in Chemnitz-Schloßchemnitz , Germany , with the serial numbers 2741, 2742 and 3035 and in one copy in 1903 from Robert Stephenson in Newcastle upon Tyne , England , with the serial number 1616/1902, built for the Valdresbane .

history

The 1901, 1902 and 1905 ordered wet steam - composite locomotives received after delivery, the Names (1902: No. 1 and No. 2, 1903: # 3 # 4 and 1905....) VALDRES , COUNTRY , EINA and FAGERNES .

Presumably in 1929 the locomotives were converted to a superheated steam variant . The network system was expanded.

Used by Norges Statsbaner

With the expiry of the concession for the private Valdresbane on July 1, 1937, the entire Valdresbane and the locomotives were taken over by Norges Statsbaner . There it received the new series designation NSB 50a and the new company numbers 17 to 20 . They were first used in the Oslo district . 50a 19 was handed over to the district of Drammen on September 14, 1955 and 50a 17 on June 15, 1957 . 50a 18 went to Hamar district in November 1953 and was sold on December 11 of the same year to Klevfos Cellulose & Papirfabrik , which existed in Ådalsbruk in Løten municipality , about 15 km east of Hamar , from 1888 to 1976.

Whereabouts

The last locomotive, the 50a 17 , was retired on June 13, 1963. All locomotives were scrapped .
