The VAG Rundschrift is a sans serif font . The font was designed for Volkswagen AG . In English-speaking countries, the font is sold under the name VAG Rounded .

History and creation

VW traditionally used the Futura as its corporate font . From 1978 the VAG Rundschrift was introduced for the uniform branding of all group subsidiaries. The design, which was unique when it was created, comes from Wolf Rogosky and Gerd Hiepler. Later revisions were made by Bertel Schmitt and Manfred Schwarzer. In 1990 the uniform corporate identity was ended and each subsidiary was now given its own brand core. The VAG Rundschrift was subsequently no longer used by the VW Group.

The VAG Rundschrift is used by different organizations today: T-Mobile US , Apple Inc. (until 2015) use the font in the keyboard layout, Adecco and other companies. Typographer Mike Abbink created a very similar corporate font for General Electric , the GE Inspira .
