The VEB Wittol Wittenberg was a state-owned enterprise (VEB), the detergents and candles produced any kind. Wittol also had other branches in the surrounding towns.

history

In 1890 the company Dr. Thompson soap works founded in Wittenberg . With the Schwan brand , the company soon advanced to become one of the leading soap manufacturers in Germany.

In 1910, the Sidol plants were also founded in Wittenberg , which at the height of their development employed more than 1,500 people.

After the Second World War , both companies were nationalized as state-owned companies in 1948. In 1951 the company was merged to form VEB Household Chemicals Wittenberg and in 1955 it was renamed VEB Wittol . In this context, additional production facilities for candle manufacture and shoe care products were integrated in Wittol, such as the candle factory in Ebersbach , which had specialized in tea lights .

After the fall of the Wall in 1990 the company was privatized and continued as a GmbH . It was soon split up into Eg-Gü (shoe care products) and wittol GmbH . In 1999 the KRUSE group of companies (NRW) took over Wittol Chemie GmbH.

Subsequent mergers and the modernization of the production range led to another renaming, the manufacturer of household chemicals now appears on the German market as domalwittol Wasch und Reinigungsmittel GmbH .
