history
VR-Bank Ellwangen was founded on April 5, 1866 as "Gewerbebank Ellwangen". From 1895 it was called "Gewerb- und Landwirtschaftsbank Ellwangen", from 1940 "Ellwanger Volksbank" and from 1992 "VR-Bank Ellwangen eG". In the period that followed, the bank incorporated Raiffeisen banks from the surrounding communities through a merger.
