history

In its history, VR Bank HessenLand eG was formed through many mergers of local cooperative banks. The oldest of these sub-banks was Homberg (Ohm), founded in 1858. The last major merger in the history of the bank took place in 2000: VR Bank eG (Alsfeld), Raiffeisenbank Kirchhain and Raiffeisenbank Schwalmstadt became VR Bank eG Alsfeld Kirchhain Schwalmstadt. Since then, Raiffeisenbank Gründchen has only been added in 2002. In 2006 the name was changed to VR Bank HessenLand eG.

In addition to the lettering, the VR Bank HessenLand logo also includes the “wave”. This stands for mountains and valleys, which stand for the rural area in the business area. Just like the “Welle”, the name HessenLand is intended to indicate the bank's close ties to the rural environment.
