The VR Bank Hessen eG has its headquarters in Alsfeld in Vogelsbergkreis . It is one of the cooperative banks and belongs to the financial group of the Volksbanken-Raiffeisenbanken. history

In its history, VR Bank HessenLand eG was formed through many mergers of local cooperative banks. The oldest of these sub-banks was Homberg (Ohm), founded in 1858. The last major merger in the history of the bank took place in 2000: VR Bank eG (Alsfeld), Raiffeisenbank Kirchhain and Raiffeisenbank Schwalmstadt became VR Bank eG Alsfeld Kirchhain Schwalmstadt. Since then, Raiffeisenbank Gründchen has only been added in 2002. In 2006 the name was changed to VR Bank HessenLand eG.
