At the end of the 19th century, there was still no central cash office for the north of the country with its seat in Oldenburg, which would necessarily function as a money settlement office. After the former director August Willers had also solved this problem in the autumn of 1897 by founding a state cooperative fund, the way was clear to expand the group of the few existing savings and loan funds. Until then, the residents had to take the then arduous route to the banks in Oldenburg to do their financial transactions.

As a result, on

  • February 14, 1897 the savings and loan association eGmuH in Ahlhorn,
  • March 14, 1897 the savings and loan association eGmuH in Großenkneten,
  • April 11, 1897 the savings and loan association eGmuH in Huntlosen,
  • February 27, 1898 the savings and loan fund in Kirchhatten eGmuH,
  • August 27, 1899 was the savings and loan association eGmbH in Wardenburg and
  • On February 12, 1912, the Streekermoor savings and loan association was founded.

The above-mentioned savings and loan funds have changed their name or addition several times. So was z. B. from the savings and loan fund eGmbH in Wardenburg the Raiffeisenbank Wardenburg eGmbH and the savings and loan funds in Ahlhorn and Großenkneten renamed Raiffeisenbank e. G. mb H. um.

In 1978 the first merger was due. Raiffeisenbank Kirchhatten eGmbH and Raiffeisenbank Sandkrug eG merged to form Raiffeisenbank Hatten-Sandkrug eG. Volksbank Huntlosen eG merged with Raiffeisenbank Hatten-Sandkrug eG in 1998. The company name remained unchanged. Finally, in 2002 it was renamed Raiffeisenbank Hatten-Wardenburg eG, as Raiffeisenbank Wardenburg eG merged with Raiffeisenbank Hatten-Sandkrug eG.

Two years earlier, Raiffeisenbank Großenkneten eG and Volksbank Ahlhorn eG merged and became Volksbank Ahlhorn-Großenkneten eG. The last merger of Raiffeisenbank Hatten-Wardenburg eG with Volksbank Ahlhorn-Großenkneten eG in 2007 resulted in today's VR Bank Oldenburg Land West eG.

Foundation of the VR Bank Oldenburg Land West eG

Due to its regional roots in the region, VR Bank Oldenburg Land West eG is committed to its business area and thus supports various social projects, among other things. In 2009 the foundation of VR Bank Oldenburg Land West eG was established.
