VT line
The VT Line or Vammelsuu Taipale Line (Finnish: VT-linja; Swedish: VT-linjen; Russian: Карельский вал) was a Finnish line of defense on the Karelian Isthmus , built between 1942 and 1944 during the Continuation War and by Vammelsuu across the north bank of the Gulf of Finland through Kuuterselkä and Kivennapa and along Taipaleenjoki to Taipale on the west bank of Lake Ladoga . It crossed the Saint Petersburg - Vyborg near Sahakylä railway (63 km) and the Saint Petersburg - Hiitola near Kelliö railway (69 km).
During the Vyborg-Petrozavodsk operation , the line was overrun by Soviet troops from the Leningrad front between June 10 and 17, 1944 , and the Finns had to retreat to the VKT line .
