Vahid Alaghband
Vahid Alaghband ( 20, 1952 in Tehran ) is an entrepreneur.
; born MarchHis father Hussein controlled 40% of the Iranian cotton market, then invested in the oil trade and food processing. Vahid Alaghband's brothers are Hassan and Nasser.
In 1969 Alaghband was sent to a boarding school near Boston / USA. Graduated from Cornell University in 1975 with a degree in chemical engineering and returned to Iran.
In 1979 his family lost almost their entire fortune in the Iranian Revolution and fled to London.
In 1981, Alaghband founded the metal trading company Balli Group Plc with start-up capital of $ 200,000 borrowed from relatives . In the first year he achieved a turnover of 6 million $, in 2001 already 4 billion euros. His brother Hassan joined the Balli Group in 1990 after working as a lawyer and auditor at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP in the United States.
2001 took over Balli by E.ON , the Klöckner & Co (KlöCo). The following year WestLB filed a fraud complaint, and Alaghband was in custody for most of 2003. The fraud allegation has been dropped.
