Vahva sõdur Joosep Toots (in German The Brave Soldier Joosep Toots ) is the title of an Estonian silent film from 1930.

Movie

The full-length comedy describes in nine parts the life of a soldier in various units of the armed forces - from being drafted into military service to being discharged from military service. The country girl Joosep Toots becomes a different person through the tough school of the military.

The script came from Alfred Rüütli . It was edited by the popular folk writer Oskar Luts , who had already participated in the silent film Noored kotkad (1927). Luts' humorous narration and folk style were well received by Estonian audiences. The film was directed by Luts' older brother Theodor .

The film was made as an advertisement for the Estonian Armed Forces . The shooting took place with the support of the Estonian Army and Navy.

The film is considered lost.
