Val Lawrence
Val Lawrence (actually Valerie Dawn Lawrence, married Melville; born August 5, 1936 ) is a former Australian shot putter and discus thrower .
At the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Vancouver in 1954 , she was fourth in the shot put and fifth in the discus throw. In 1956 she came in 13th place in the shot put at the Olympic Games in Melbourne and was eliminated in the qualifying discus throw.
In 1952 and 1954 she was the Australian Champion in the shot put.
