Val Nüglia

The Val Nüglia ( [ˌvalˈnyʎɐ] ? / I , Rhaeto-Romanic in the idiom Vallader , literally «valley (of) nothing», translated «empty valley») is an uninhabited side valley of the Spöltal in the Lower Engadine . It lies north of the Ofen Pass and belongs to the catchment area of ​​the Inn . The Val Nüglia has a north-south extension of 5 km. Audio file / audio sample

The Val Nüglia is located on the territory of the municipality of Val Müstair . Previously it belonged to the municipality of Tschierv , which was absorbed into it , whereby Valchava had the rights to use the agricultural land. In 1918 Valchava leased the valley to the Swiss National Park .

The Val Nüglia is surrounded by the following mountains (starting in the southwest, clockwise around the valley): Piz Nair , Piz Stabelchod, Piz Foraz , Piz Nüglia, Piz Tavrü and Piz Vallatscha. This is the Piz Tavrü with 3168  m above sea level. M. the highest.

Most of the Val Nüglia is part of the Swiss National Park. As there are no marked paths in the valley, as everywhere in the park, entry is prohibited.
