Vale Covo is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in western Portugal . It belongs to Bombarral County in Leiria District . The municipality had an area of ​​11.2 km² and has 1163 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

The place is about two kilometers southwest of the county town of Bombarral. The freguesia includes the villages of Vale Covo, Gamelas, Casal do Urmal, Casal das Pêgas, Casal da Cotovia, Casal de Oliveirinha, Casal da Salgueirinha, Casal da Lagoa and Vale Pato.

The place is characterized by fruit and wine growing as well as cattle breeding. The place's patronage is the Sacred Heart of Jesus . The patronage festival is celebrated annually on July 12th. At the same time there is a small market.

On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Vale Covo and Bombarral were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias do Bombarral e Vale Covo .
