Vale de Madeira was the seat of an independent municipality ( Freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Pinhel . 92 inhabitants live in the former municipal area (as of June 30, 2011).

As part of the administrative reorganization in Portugal in 2013 , the municipality of Vale de Madeira was dissolved on September 29, 2013 and merged with the municipality of Pereiro to form the new municipality of Alto do Palurdo . The seat of the new municipality became Pereiro.
