Valentin-Weidner-Platz 1 (Bad Kissingen)
The Valentin-Weidner-Platz 1 property (formerly Maxplatz 1) in Bad Kissingen , the major district town of the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen , with the associated garden pavilion is one of the Bad Kissingen monuments and is under the number D-6-72-114-358 registered in the Bavarian monument list .
history
In 1903, the Bad Kissingen sculptor Valentin Weidner successfully applied for the construction of a house on what was then Maxplatz. The property, which was completed on August 25, 1903, was built by the Bad Kissingen architect Carl Krampf as a Gothic-style building with an irregular floor plan and ashlar masonry . Weidner chiseled a tape over the main entrance of the property called Maxschlössle with the inscription "Anno domini 1903"; the carved door bears Weidner's initials "VW".
In 1904 Weidner had the property supplemented with a garden house with studio rooms, also built by Carl Krampf. With its pointed arch arcature and its dome, the garden house on an oriental character. Weidner brought an intertwined tape with the inscription “V. Weidner Sculptor ”. In 1910, Weidner added a bathroom to the garden house.
Weidner's heirs had to sell the house during the period of inflation just a few years after Weidner's death. The Sacred Heart Missionaries used it as the first monastery in Bad Kissingen from 1921; today it serves as a residential building. It is almost unchanged in its external structure.
