Valentine Rugwabiza (born July 25, 1963 ) is a Rwandan diplomat and politician who was a minister and has been Permanent Representative and Ambassador to the United Nations in New York City since 2016 .

Life

After attending school, Valentine Rugwabiza completed her studies at the Université nationale du Zaïre (UNAZA), which she completed with both a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and a Master of Science (M.Sc.). Then she joined the diplomatic service and was among other things to 2005 Permanent Representative and Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva and at the same time Ambassador to Switzerland . She was then Deputy Director General of the Geneva-based World Trade Organization (WTO) between 2005 and 2013 . After her return to Rwanda, she became head of the development agency in 2013 and was a member of the government of Prime Minister Pierre Habumuremyi until 2014 . In the subsequent government of Prime Minister Anastase Murekezi , she was Minister for the East African Community from July 24, 2014 to November 2016 .

In 2016 Valentine Rugwabiza became Permanent Representative and Ambassador to the United Nations in New York City and presented his letter of accreditation to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on November 11, 2016 .
