The Van Eck power station ( English Van Eck Power Station ) is a coal-fired power station and the second largest power station in Namibia .
The coal-fired power plant in the northern industrial area of the capital Windhoek has an installed capacity of 120 MW . The four generators were commissioned between 1972 and 1979. Van-Eck was the first power plant in southern Africa to use cooling towers with dry cooling .
Between 2012 and 2015 the power plant was overhauled for 330 million Namibian dollars and equipped with flue gas filters, among other things .
