Van Chancellor
Van Chancellor (born September 27, 1943 in Louisville, Mississippi) has been the coach of the women's basketball team at Louisiana State University since April 11, 2007 .
Van Chancellor coached the University of Mississippi women's team from 1978 to 1997 . He then moved to the newly founded WNBA for the Houston Comets , where he worked as a trainer until 2007. There he immediately led his team to four titles in a row. During his time with the Houston Comets, he recorded a total of 211 wins, making him the most successful coach in the history of the WNBA.
Since April 2007 he has been the coach of the women's team at Louisiana State University, with whom he was able to move into the Final Four in his first season .
In 2002 he coached the American women's national team. At the World Cup in China, he was able to lead the team to win the World Cup. At the 2004 Summer Olympics he was again in charge of the women's national team, which won the gold medal there.
Van Chancellor has been a member of the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame since 2001 and a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame since September 2007 .
