van Collen
The van Collen family was of Aachen origin and was previously called Von Cöln or (van) Colyn .

The origins of the family go back to the 15th century, when they worked as magistrates in the city of Aachen . In 1630 a branch was raised to imperial nobility. Further confirmations of nobility were made in 1659 and in 1683 and 1686 on the Spanish side. At the end of the 17th century a branch moved to Amsterdam in order to gain a foothold in the city government . In the years 1716 and 1734 family members were transferred to the imperial knighthood. In 1815 this branch of the family was introduced into the new Dutch nobility with the title Jonkheer . This last still flourishing branch of the family died out in 1853.
