Ferdinand van Collen (* 1651 in Velsen ; † October 30, 1735 in Breukelen ), Army von Gunsterstein and Tienhoven , was a Dutch aristocrat, lawyer, administrator and city regent.

Ferdinand came from the noble family of Van Collen . After studying philosophy at the University of Franeker , he founded a law firm in Amsterdam in 1681. Van Collen was appointed one of the directors ( Bewindhebber ) of the WIC and in 1689 director of the Suriname Society . In 1694 he was accepted into the Vroedschap , two years later Schepen . During the War of the Spanish Succession he worked as a Dutch deputy in the field . Here he took part in the battle of Oudenaarde and transmitted secret military scripts to board member Anthonie Heinsius . In 1709 Van Collen was named to the Amsterdam Schout . The powerful regent Gerrit Corver had revealed himself to be his patron. He held the office of Schout until 1718. He was mayor in 1727, 1731 and 1734 .

He was married to Maria de Bordes, through whom he became master of Gunterstein and Tienhoven in 1711. From this marriage came Ferdinand (II) van Collen . Ferdinand van Collen's portrait of Nicolaes Maes still hangs in the Gunterstein country estate to this day.
