Van Nest polar glasses
Van Nest Polglase (born August 25, 1898 in New York City , † December 20, 1968 in Los Angeles ) was an American art director . He was responsible for the equipment of Fred Astaire - Ginger Rogers movies at RKO Pictures . He has been nominated six times for an Oscar for Best Production Design.
Career
Van Nest Polglase first worked as an interior designer in New York and Havana before starting his film career in 1919 as art director at Famous Players-Lasky, one of the founding companies of what later became Paramount Pictures . After a stopover at MGM , Nest Polglase moved to RKO Pictures as head of the art direction department at the instigation of David O. Selznick . There he was responsible for the equipment of over 330 films.
In the course of his career, he was nominated six times for the Oscar / Best Production Design , but without winning it.
