Marc Van de Mieroop

Marc Van de Mieroop (born October 22, 1956 ) is a Belgian ancient orientalist .

Van de Mieroop studied at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven until 1978 , then received his master's degree from Yale University in 1980 and his doctorate three years later. Since 1996 he has been Professor of Ancient Near Eastern History at Columbia University in New York . He is best known for his comprehensive and concise accounts of history.
