The Vanak Square

Vanak ( Persian ونک Wanak ) is a district in the north of Tehran . The name means small oak and goes back to the name of the village that existed here before its incorporation and that an Armenian community livesnear.

Vanak is an affluent area with tall business and residential complexes, a golf course, cafes and shopping centers. The largest Armenian sports center, the Ararat Sports Complex , and a Zurchaneh are also located there, and until 1995 also a theme park called Schahr-e Bāzi (formerly Funfair ).

The Meydān-e Vanak square of the same name is an important junction in the city, from which several highways such as the Jahān-e Kudak and the Mollā Sadrā depart. The valiasr street leads across the square. ( Location )

The grave of a former prime minister, Mostofi al-Mamalek , is also in this district.
