Vaquería is a city and a district with about 11,600 inhabitants in the Caaguazú department in Paraguay . It is located on the Ruta 13 national road, which was completed in July 2018, 243 km from Asunción . The district was formed in 1992 when it split off from the neighboring district of Yhú . The climate favors agriculture and livestock farming. There are soy , sugar cane, cassava grown cotton and wheat, and kept cattle, goats, sheep and pigs. Since March 2019 there is also a modern fattening house for 5,000 chickens, which the technical agricultural school operates. It is the first such facility in agricultural schools in Paraguay. Every year in May there is an agricultural fair, the Feria de Tekoporã . Most households are connected to the electricity grid, but there is still insufficient supply of running water to residents.
