Vasilije Micić (born January 13, 1994 in Kraljevo , Serbia ) is a Serbian basketball player who is currently under contract with the Turkish first division club Tofaş Spor Kulübü . Micić was drawn 52nd by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2014 NBA Draft on June 26, 2014 and plays in the position of point guard .

youth

From 2002 to 2006 he played in the youth of OKK Belgrade . In 2006 Micić moved to the youth department of KK Red Star Belgrade , where he played until 2007. Then he played in the youth team of KK FMP until 2010 .

Professional career

KK Mega Vizura

In 2010 Micić signed his first professional contract with KK Mega Vizura . At the age of 16 he made his debut in the top division of Serbian basketball and played 35 games there in the 2010/11 season. Due to a knee injury, he could only play 8 games in the following season 2011/12.

NBA draft

On June 26, 2014, Micić was drawn in 52nd place by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2014 NBA Draft . However, he will not be used in the NBA right away, but rather gain experience in a European team.

FC Bayern Munich

On August 4, 2014 Micić signed a two-year contract with the German first division club and Euroleague participant FC Bayern Munich until 2016 with an option for another season.

KK Red Star Belgrade and Tofaş Spor Kulübü

On December 27, 2015, FC Bayern Munich announced that it would loan Micić to Serbia to KK Roter Stern Belgrade until the end of the season. After his loan expired, Bayern Munich did not pull and Micić moved to Türkiye Basketbol Ligi to Tofaş Spor Kulübü .

National team

In 2011 Micić took part with the Serbian team in the U-18 basketball world championship , where he won the silver medal. In 2013 he took part in the U-19 basketball world championship , where he also won the silver medal. He was also elected to the All-Tournament Team.

In the same year Micić made his debut for the Serbian national team at the 2013 European Basketball Championship , where he averaged 4.4 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.

Others

Micić is considered one of the most promising talents in European basketball. He was also one of the 12 candidates for the FIBA Europe Young Men's Player Of The Year Award (U22 men) , which honors the best young players in European basketball.

His sister, Nina Micić , is a successful snowboarder. She was the first Serbian female snowboarder to take part in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi .
