Vasos Germenis

Vasos Germenis ( Greek Βάσος Γερμενής ; * 1896 in Fiskardo ; † 1966 ) was a Greek sculptor and painter.

Life

Germenis enrolled in the Law Faculty of the University of Athens in 1915, but then applied to the Athens School of Fine Arts , where he studied sculpture. After graduating, he went on a study trip through Europe. On another trip he stayed in Ethiopia for five years , where Haile Selassie hired him as a court artist. He became known in Ethiopia and his works have been shown in numerous exhibitions. In addition, he painted churches in Addis Ababa and finally designed the mausoleum of Haile Selassie.
