The VdS Nievenheim (full name: Verein der Sportfreunde 1920 Nievenheim eV ) is a sports club from Nievenheim , a district of Dormagen . The first soccer team played a year in the Oberliga Niederrhein . In addition to football, the club also offers other departments for volleyball , judo , cycling and gymnastics .

Club history

The sporting rise of VdS Nievenheim began in 2000 with the championship of the district league A. Two years later, in the 2001/02 season of the district league, it was promoted to the Lower Rhine regional league for the first time . There you met u. a. on the city rivals TSV Bayer Dormagen . After the direct relegation, the club played eight years in the district league. In the 2010/11 season, the VdS succeeded in winning the championship again. The Nievenheimers and ASV Süchteln fought a duel until the last match day, when VdS Nievenheim rose in the end due to the better goal difference. Three years later, the club from Dormagen won the championship in the regional league ahead of SC Düsseldorf-West and Cronenberger SC and celebrated the club's greatest success to date with promotion to the Oberliga Niederrhein . After just one year, the Nievenheimers were relegated as the penultimate and had to relegate to the district league in 2018.

Sports facility

The VdS Nievenheim plays its home games on the sports facility Südstraße in the Dormagen district of Nievenheim. The facility has an artificial turf pitch with steps on both long sides.
