history

Emergence

The Vega emerged from the Hermes. The Hermes is an ultralight aircraft with large surfaces made of synthetic resin reinforced with glass and carbon fibers . The Hermes designer is Roland Prevot, who has already designed several light aircraft (Helios, Fun Twin, Hermes). The basic shape of the Hermes was adopted by Roland Prevot and Achim Geohrke for the Vega and extensively revised, but the materials and surfaces used were not.

construction

The Vega is a two-seater light aircraft as VLA (Very Light Aircraft, 560 kg) or UL (Ultralight Aircraft, 472.5 kg) in a modern sandwich construction of three layers, in which the outer layers mainly consist of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (KfK). The manufacturer is the French company Aviakit Flight-Concept in Troyes in Champagne, France . Steel (25CD4S) and aluminum (AU4G) meet the aeronautical standards for certified aircraft . The low-wing aircraft has a wingspan of 9.35 m and wings with spars made of wood core, composite sheathing and KfK, as they are also used in gliders. With a curb weight of 249 kg, it is one of the lightest two-seater ultralight aircraft in closed cabin design as a low-wing aircraft and allows a payload of over 200 kg. The cruising speed is around 200 km / h with a range of approx. 800 km. The cell and the top of the surfaces (positive load) can withstand 10.5 g due to their extreme strength . The design makes it interesting both for use as a sporty ultralight aircraft with appropriate travel capabilities and for use as a drone in a slightly modified form without a glass hood for reconnaissance purposes. Due to the materials used without a noticeable amount of metal and its slim shape with an extremely small lateral plan, it is difficult to locate on radar images and can only be seen late in the air. In the civil version, a kind of radar reflector and strobe lights are used as lighting (speed cameras).
